Antenna Software has announced the immediate availability of AMP Location from the Gartner Wireless and Mobile Summit. As the open and flexible location-based services engine of the Antenna Mobility Platform (AMP), AMP Location enables organizations to simplify the integration and application of the latest GPS and Location-Based Services technologies into their mobile business solutions.

The result is enhanced real-time visibility into their field workforces for higher productivity, better resource optimization and improved auditing and tracking capabilities.

According to Gartner, Hype Cycle for Wireless Devices, Software and Services, analysis by Monica Basso, June 29, 2007, "User organizations with numerous groups of employees moving frequently outside a fixed location - on a campus, or on a national or international basis - should consider the possible benefits of deploying applications that can provide information or support based on the actual geographical location of a person or asset in real time."

Using AMP Location, companies can easily embed location-aware functionality into processes, workflows and transactions in both client- and server-side applications. As such, mobile workers can access job-relevant maps and driving directions - within the context of their workflows - using any GPS-enabled or location-aware wireless device.

Meanwhile, a Web-based dashboard provides dispatchers and managers with an up-to-the-minute view of workers and their job trails. AMP Location's flexible architecture supports any GPS-enabled or location-aware wireless device on any network and is independent of any back-end system.

"The potential for Location-Based Services is huge, but with so many different vendors and options available to enterprises, it becomes a complex space to navigate," said Jim Hemmer, CEO and president, Antenna Software.

"With AMP Location, Antenna brings to market the most flexible and versatile location-based solution for our customers. Antenna's customers have the freedom to select the services that best meet their requirements, future-proof their mobile deployments, and simplify location-aware mobile application development - all of which enable tremendous agility for a company."

AMP Location supports best-of-breed LBS solutions including TeleNav, Microsoft and Google and leverages open and standard interfaces and APIs, including government resources and those made available through the wireless carrier networks. AMP Location is available now and comes fully integrated "out of the box" to work with Antenna's AMPower mobile business solutions for sales, field service and IT support management using these two components:

AMP Location Client: Integrates directly with the mobile application on the wireless device, enabling mobile workers to get driving routes, maps and turn-by-turn directions from current position to a destination, using text and voice support and even real-time re-routing with traffic and weather overlays.

AMP Location Manager: A Web-based console that tracks the location and presence of field personnel by capturing and displaying periodic real-time geo-position updates from devices; thus giving dispatchers an up-to-the-minute view of workers and their job trails. It can also can also monitor and log when and where certain activities (for example: calls, e-mails and job status updates) occur in the field. This allows companies to better track mileage traveled per field resource, time in/out of territories and certain activities required for meeting regulatory and compliance mandates.

AMP Location is also available with AMP Studio, Antenna's mobile application development environment, for developers to easily embed location-aware functionality into processes, workflows and transactions in both client- and server-side applications.
