Aircraft cyber-defense capabilities on BAE drawing board
by Richard Tomkins
Washington (UPI) Oct 10, 2017

BAE Systems reports it is developing cyber-defense capabilities to help aircraft detect and mitigate cyber-attacks.

The capabilities will include automated vulnerability assessment, sub-system hardening, and malicious system behavior identification.

"We understand how the threats to military aircraft are evolving, and we're focused on developing technology that protects warfighters from current and emerging cyber threats," said Cheryl Paradis, director of Threat Management Solutions at BAE Systems. "This work will help provide them with the tools they need to successfully complete their missions."

The system will mainly be for existing aerial platforms since future platforms are designed with cyber-security in mind, BAE Systems said. The new capability will be implemented on existing threat warning systems or as a stand-alone solution.

The solution will not burden aircraft with excessive size, weight, or power demands, BAE Systems said.
