Airbus Defense and Space has delivered a C295 medium-sized transport plane to the Air Force of Ecuador at its manufacturing facility in Spain.

The handover, announced this week, took place June 6, the company said, as part of an order for three aircraft.

The value of the contract with Ecuador was not disclosed but Airbus Defense and Space said the deal also provides for provision of a full in-service support package to Ecuador.

"We are very proud that Ecuador, after a successful experience with our aircraft, has placed this repeat order which demonstrates that the complete range of Airbus products can cover the needs of all the military arms of a country," said Antonio Rodríguez Barberan, head of the company's Commercial for Military Aircraft business unit.

The C295 is a turboprop in service with 19 countries, including Brazil, Chile and Colombia. It has a cruise speed of 300 miles per hour and a maximum range of 805 miles when carrying a 20,400 pound payload.

Airbus said Ecuador will use the aircraft for military and humanitarian missions.

Ecuador's military services currently fly a number of Airbus aircraft, including C212s, CN235s, and two CN235s.
