AREVA TN has won two new contracts to supply its NUHOMS dry storage canisters and horizontal storage modules (HSMs) to two U.S. utilities. Under these contracts totaling more than $20 million, AREVA TN will fabricate and deliver canisters and HSMs to be used for the safe storage of used nuclear fuel.

The canisters and HSMs are scheduled to be delivered starting in 2015. Utilizing its growing U.S. supply chain, AREVA TN's North-Carolina based manufacturer Columbiana Hi Tech LLC will provide the canisters for the second contract.

"AREVA TN is the reference in the United States for safety and quality in used fuel management," said Mike McMahon, senior vice president of AREVA TN in the United States. "We are pleased to provide our customers with our high-performance, industry-proven canisters and storage modules."

The AREVA TN NUHOMS canisters safely store used fuel assemblies from both pressurized water reactors and boiling water reactors. To date, AREVA TN has sold 1,250 used nuclear fuel systems worldwide, which includes nearly 900 systems already in use in the United States, confirming AREVA TN's leading position in the U.S. market.
