Two NATO soldiers killed in accidents, one wounded in clash Kabul, Aug 10, 2006 Two NATO soldiers were killed in separate accidents in Afghanistan Wednesday while another was seriously wounded in a clash with insurgents, officials said. A Canadian soldier died in a "weapons-related accident" in southern Afghanistan on Wednesday, a Canadian defence department official told AFP in Ottawa. Master Corporal Jeffrey Walsh was taking part in "routine operations" about 20 kilometres (12 miles) west of Kandahar city when he was "killed in a weapons-related accident" around midday, said military spokesman Lieutenant John Nethercott. "We're investigating to try to determine the exact circumstances, but enemy actions have been ruled out," he said. Separately, a British soldier was killed in a road traffic accident in the capital Kabul, Britain's Ministry of Defence said. "It is with great regret that we can confirm that a British soldier serving with the Royal Logistic Corps has been killed in a road traffic accident in Camp Souter in Kabul, Afghanistan," a spokeswoman told AFP. The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan said there was no rebel involvement in the accident. "There were no other civilian or military injuries. An investigation into the accident is ongoing; there was no insurgent involvement," ISAF said in a statement. In another incident, an ISAF soldier was seriously wounded in a clash with insurgents in Musa Qala in the troubled southern province of Helmand. "The soldier was evacuated to a medical facility and is in a serious condition," said ISAF, which did not reveal his nationality. Britain has 3,300 troops in the south, two-thirds in Helmand where they have faced regular attacks by insurgents. The south and southeast have suffered a surge in violence by the remnants of the ousted Taliban regime, whose regime was toppled by a US-led invasion of Afghanistan in late 2001.
