UN atomic watchdog sees 'new era' in nuclear energy

There is a renaissance of worldwide interest in nuclear power as countries seek clean and stable sources of energy which will not exacerbate climate change, the UN atomic watchdog said Monday. "It is not an exaggeration to say that we have entered a new era." the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Yukiya Amano, told the body's annual general conference on its first day. Spain's government Monday approved the construction of the country's largest biomass plant, the renewable energy group Ence announced Monday. Government approval was necessary as the plant, to be built in the southern town of Huelva, will use state aid set aside for renewable energy projects. Britain fixes Eurofighter ejector seats after Spain crash

Britain's Royal Air Force has modified the ejection seat harnesses on its Eurofighter Typhoon combat aircraft following a fatal accident in Spain, the Ministry of Defence said Monday.
