Oil prices diverged on Monday after spiking early on in reaction to a weaker dollar and signs of improved Chinese demand for crude, analysts said. Brazilian authorities evacuated thousands of shantytown residents Sunday so their houses could be demolished after heavy rains that killed 224 people last week threatened further landslides.
