Google case shows difficulties of China presence: analysts

Google's threat to pull out of China is evidence of the difficulties faced by foreign firms operating in the land of the "Great Firewall", and could signal a tougher government line, analysts say. The announcement that the US Internet giant might forego operations in the country with the world's largest online population might just be good business, as it has never matched up to its Chinese rivals on the mainland, they say. Shares in China's top search engine Baidu surged in after-hours trading Wednesday after Google vowed to defy China's Internet censors and threatened to pull out of the country. Bulgarian nuclear reactor plugged back into electricity grid

One of two reactors at Bulgaria's nuclear plant at Kozloduy has been plugged back into the electricity grid after being shut down for maintenance last week, the plant's operators said Wednesday. France Wednesday slashed subsidies for solar power by 24 percent, with Germany expected to announce cuts later this week, as both governments aim to deter massive speculation by the industry.
