France's Areva eyes deal to supply two reactors to India![]() |
An Areva spokeswoman said the company planned to ship two third-generation European Pressurised Reactors and a supply of nuclear fuel to India, which could lead to a bigger contract to supply a series of reactors.
On Saturday, the head of the Indian chamber of commerce said his country's nuclear market could be worth up 20 billion euros (29 billion dollars) to Areva and other French firms such as Alstom over the next 15 years.
Indian President Manmohan Singh was in the French city of Marseille on Monday for an EU-India summit and was to travel to Paris on Tuesday for bilateral talks with France's President Nicolas Sarkozy.
The nuclear accord will be on the table in Paris, and Singh was also expected to hold talks with energy executives.
