EADS and Terma, Lystrup, have joined forces to extend their established co-operation in the field of defence. EADS Defence and Security Systems (DS) and Terma have agreed to explore further business opportunities particularly in the fields of Command and Control, Air Defence, Electronic Warfare, Future Soldier Systems and radar technology.

"EADS Defence and Security Systems is mastering leading-edge technologies for security and military applications, and this is excellently suited to jointly offer sophisticated solutions together with an experienced player like Terma", explained Bernhard Gerwert, responsible for international Marketing and Sales of DS and CEO of EADS Defence Electronics. "We have a very successful partnership which we will enhance even further in the months to come."

EADS Defence and Security Systems has several programmes running together with TERMA, particularly in the field of Coastal Surveillance and Electronic Warfare. As a comment upon the new cooperation, Terma's President and CEO, Jens Maaloe, stated that he sees a wide range of interesting perspectives in the co-operation agreement which will provide both companies with additional competencies.

"In addition to our present co-operation this agreement has potential of opening doors to further programs and markets for the whole line of business activities within Terma. The changed focus which we can observe within the armed forces in the Western world, for example, in the form of greater involvement in the international peace-making operations, provides great potential for systems within Network Based Operation Systems, and aircraft self-protection equipment where Terma holds a position as a recognized market leader with platform independent solutions", said Jens Maaloe.
