Thirteen more feared dead in Pakistan rains Muzaffarabad, Pakistan, Aug 8, 2006 Five people were killed when a boulder carried by a landslide crushed their house in Pakistani Kashmir Tuesday, while monsoon rains left eight others dead or missing elsewhere. The landslip near the town of Balabandi came after days of rain loosened a mountainside made unstable by last year's South Asian earthquake. "A woman, her daughter aged three and three sons died when a huge boulder fell on their home," local police chief Zahoorul Hassan told AFP. The United Nations warned last week that landslides and floods could displace thousands of people already in temporary shelter after October's quake, which killed 73,000 people. Flash floods swamped several villages in rugged southwest Pakistan on Monday, said Baluchistan province government spokesman Shakeel Ahmed. One woman died when the roof of her house collapsed near the desert town of Sibi and seven others were missing after they were swept away by overflowing rivers, Ahmed said. Hundreds of people were being evacuated to safer places. Incidents blamed on the annual monsoon rains have claimed more than 150 lives in Pakistan in the past two weeks.
