Heatwave kills nine in Romania Bucharest (AFP) Jul 28, 2006 Nine people have died in the past eight days from the heatwave in Romania, the health ministry said Friday. On Thursday officials put the number at seven, three in Bucharest, where the temperature has reached 36 degrees Celsius (97 degrees Fahrenheit) in recent days. Two further heat-related deaths were reported Friday. There have also been hundreds of reports of people fainting in the streets. A heatwave in late June killed 17 in the country.
