Iraq boosts oil output, offers new blocks
Baghdad (UPI) May 11, 2011
Iraq has boosted oil production to the highest level in a decade and is preparing to auction off oil and gas exploration contracts to develop potentially big new fields, part of its accelerating drive to challenge Saudi Arabia as the world's top producer. The auction, scheduled for January 2012, will involve 12 exploration blocks covering 31,500 square miles.
