German revives nuclear to green energy mix

The German government has agreed to extend the life of the country's nuclear power plants, a move that has the opposition and the renewable energy industry fuming. Germany's 17 reactors will remain online for an average of 12 years beyond their planned phase-out deadline in 2021 as a bridge technology until renewables are ready to take over completely, German Chancellor Angela Merkel revealed Monday.
